Best Types of Carpet

When it comes to carpet, there are many, many choices for you to consider.

  • Frieze carpet is prized for its long, fuzzy fibers and soft appearance. It’s ideal for casual spaces where comfort reigns.
  • Loop carpet has a lower, smoother profile with tiny fibers left looped at their ends.
  • Cut pile carpet refers to rugs with a thicker, softer surface, due to hooped and trimmed fibers.
  • Textured carpet is rougher to the touch due to its uneven fibers forming subtle patterns.

Most of us ideally long to balance both performance and style. Each carpet is woven from fibers, otherwise known as carpet pile, which are either natural or synthetic.

  • Nylon is the most popular synthetic fiber. A nylon carpet is a smart option, but just remember that many nylon rugs need to be treated in order to resist the worst types of stains.
  • Polyester is more budget-wise synthetic often compared to nylon. No longer considered an inferior product, modern polyester carpets are comparable in terms of durability and stain resistance.
  • Olefin is vibrant, colourful synthetic fiber that’s most often seen in Berber carpets.
  • Triexta is an innovative synthetic fiber that’s already stain-resistant: no treatments are required!
  • Wool is by far the most popular type of natural fiber. Known for its colour, warmth, and hypoallergenic qualities, wool is also eco-friendly as its sustainably sourced.

Where Can I Install Carpet?

Carpet floors are ideal in a huge range of residential and commercial areas.

Among our favorite spaces for carpet installation are:

  • Bedrooms
  • Home Offices
  • Dens
  • Living Rooms
  • Hallways
  • Stairs
  • Finished Basements
  • Playrooms
  • Meeting Rooms
  • Hotels
  • Medical Waiting Rooms
  • Restaurants
  • Corporate Settings
  • Retail Shops
  • Family Rooms

The type of carpet you choose should depend highly on your needs and the areas you wish to install them.  For instance, a stain-proof, waterproof carpet is ideal for kids’ rooms, or a family room where you tend to spend lots of time with your pets.

Can I Install My Own Carpet?

Perhaps you can, but we really don’t recommend trying it!

Carpet installation is no easy task. Even our professional flooring installers know this: and they spend countless hours honing their skills. Carpet installation, if done correctly, means plenty of time spent doing precise measurements, subfloor leveling, and stretching.

Sound challenging? It certainly can be! But don’t worry, we’re here to help you through every step of your journey to towards new floors. Our professional installation team is here to tackle carpet projects of all sizes, scopes, and settings.

Even better, we can show you various carpet options based on your preferred styles and features and meet with you face-to-face for a free project estimate that will surely start you on the right track.

What Are Carpet Remnants?

Sold at major discounts, carpet remnants are any piece or roll of carpet left over from previous installations and projects.

Most, but not all of our carpet remnants are left over from higher-end broadloom rolls. Our inventory varies for this reason, of course, but generally you can find carpet remnants in various colours, patterns, and sizes.

We can cut carpet remnants and bind them to your specifications, creating a custom area rug that’s every bit as wonderful as your favourite carpet. Smaller remnants can be useful around the home- as doormats, under pet cages, or even on your garage walls.
